PRSA Detroit Hosts (Virtual) Annual Meeting To Celebrate Chapter And Member Successes

Posted on Nov. 5, 2021  /   0

The end of the year is a time to reflect on our professional and personal accomplishments as PR and communications practitioners and set goals for the New Year. Like our members, the PRSA Detroit Chapter is gearing up to celebrate our collective achievements and start planning for another successful year. While this year has not been without its challenges, we continued to flourish as a Chapter.

We’ve hosted another year of virtual programs bringing valuable professional development opportunities to members, mentored candidates who were pursuing accreditation, earned recognition for our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and much more.

Now it’s time to celebrate! Join the PRSA Detroit Board and Officers and new and long-standing members as we come together virtually on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for the 2021 PRSA Detroit Annual Meeting. There is no charge for the event.

At the Annual Meeting we will:

  • Honor and thank our 2021 outgoing president, Sharon Tatom Garcia, APR, and the Board of Directors

  • Vote in and welcome the Chapter’s 2022 president-elect Michelle Gilbert and new Board members and Officers

  • Recognize colleagues who earned an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)

  • Award our annual PRSA Detroit Education Fund Scholarship

  • Celebrate our 2021 award recipients

    • Hall of Fame: Georgella Bascom Muirhead, APR, and Lisa Vallee-Smith, APR

    • Robert Hefty Distinguished Service Award: Jennifer Flowers-Kolf, APR

    • Nancy Skidmore Distinguished Service Award: Rachel LePoudre, APR

With more than 150 members in attendance (virtually) last year, it’s an event you won’t want to miss! There’s still time to register.

As we begin 2022 planning, the Chapter is always looking for enthusiastic and diverse, members to join committees to support our various initiatives and expand offerings for members. If you’d like to get involved, contact Sharon Tatom Garcia, APR.

We hope to see you at the Annual Meeting!

Cynthia Carey, APR is the Senior Public Relations Manager for KellyOCG, and is the PRSA Detroit Board of Directors liaison for the Annual Meeting Committee.
