Detroit PRSA Membership Options

With the new year right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to consider (or circle back on) joining PRSA, the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals that gives you ready access to everything you need to stay informed and enhance your career.
PRSA members get a large variety of exclusive benefits, including publications, professional development and networking opportunities. Some of my favorites include the professional development from the many live and on-demand webinars and receiving the daily Issues and Trends and PRSA Detroit’s quarterly e-newsletters.
There are also mentorship opportunities, many Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) studying resources, and surprising discounts from stores like Office Depot, AP Stylebook Online and more.
Locally, I have always seen the PRSA Detroit chapter as a very active and connected group. We are one of the largest, most active chapters in the nation, and there are a lot of great people to meet, fellow professionals who are supportive and friendly — from entry-level to the Region’s “local legends” who have been in the industry for decades. It's safe to say that I always look forward to the networking opportunities, both in-person at PRSA Detroit events and online in our LinkedIn groups.
PRSA Detroit is always looking for volunteer committee members — a perfect opportunity to hone or try skills while also connecting with many lovely members. Furthermore, PRSA Detroit members receive special discounts on programming events, as well as some complimentary, exclusive networking sessions scheduled for 2026.
Choosing Your Membership Option
Professionals with more than three years of experience in PR or communications can join PRSA for $267 annually, plus a one-time initiation fee of $65.
PRSA offers introductory membership pricing for early-career professionals as well. Annual dues for those with under three years of experience range between $122 and $207 annually.
Graduate students and recently former PRSSA members even have special pricing of $67 for annual dues — something I took advantage of myself when I graduated from college as a Wayne State PRSSA member. The transition to PRSA Detroit may sound daunting, but I found it especially seamless since I remained in Metro Detroit and was very active in my PRSSA chapter. I recommend that all PRSSA graduates consider the PRSSA-PRSA pipeline, no matter your PRSSA involvement. By showing up, the connections I made through PRSA Detroit as an Associate member helped me land both my first entry-level role and my current role.
If you are considering enrolling your entire department in membership, special savings and centralized billing are available for five or more members from the same organization, including no initiation fees and more.
