Three Simple Ways to Spring Clean You PR Strategy
Posted on Feb. 16, 2023 / Subscribe 0
Spring is almost here! Okay, okay … it’s still technically more than a month away, but we’ve had some unseasonably warm weather lately, so here’s to hoping it arrives sooner than later. Spring brings with it a sense of renewal and it’s a great time to clean things up, including your PR strategy. If you’re looking to freshen up your approach, here are three easy ways to do it.
Update your media list(s).
Reporters tend to move around from time to time, and it can be a lot to keep up with. This a great time of year to review your contacts and make sure all are up-to-date. Sending your pitches to an old email address that’s no longer in use because the reporter has moved on is no good for you or them. Make sure you’re staying current!
Take a look at tactics.
Being so early in the year, perhaps you’ve already done this. But, if you haven’t, it’s a good idea to review the tactics you have in place and make sure they still align with what you are aiming to achieve. The PR landscape changes constantly, and you may find you’d be more successful by switching up your strategy and approach to pursuing your goals.
Refresh your media kit(s).
Whether you have several clients or work in-house for a company, having a comprehensive media kit is always valuable. Take some time to review the key messages in your media kit documents to be sure it’s all still accurate. If you’ve got a fact sheet in there, make sure everything on it is … well, still a fact. Other good things to revamp from time to time are your visual assets. Give news outlets some variety to choose from. Help them help you!
Regardless of how you choose to spring clean, I hope you feel refreshed and renewed as we wrap up winter and usher in the warmer months. Here’s to more sunshine and PR success this year!
