APR–A Perfect Recharge for your communications career!

Earning your APR–Sounds like a great idea, right? Learning more about our profession, improving our craft and becoming more strategic … sign me up! 

Even if you’re a seasoned PR or communications professional, there’s so much you can still learn by earning your APR. The accreditation process will strengthen your communications skills.

But, you haven’t started the process yet. Or, you started it, but…

Then …

You ...

Got ...

Distracted ...

Or, sidetracked by another big project at work ... 

And, you stashed your APR study guide and textbook in a drawer.  

This is your friendly reminder that earning your APR is worth it. It is not easy. It will take time. You will have to study. This is why it means so much to earn your APR. It truly is an achievement. 

Anyone who has earned it understands the hours you must put in. They also know you are serious about your craft and dedicated to our profession.  

I thought about pursuing an APR for several years before I began the process. 

Then, my company attempted to merge with two different organizations. A global pandemic hit. (I’m in health care PR, by the way). 

Yes, I delayed the process for a few months. After all, we were in a global pandemic. 

I kept reminding myself that earning my APR would make me a stronger and better communications professional. So, I made time for it.

I studied on weekends and late at night after my kids went to bed. 

It was not easy. 

It was worth it. 

Now, I am so proud to be accredited in PR. I apply the skills and techniques I learned throughout the process in my every day work.

Pursuing your APR is a major commitment. 

That’s why it is meaningful. 

That’s why it matters. 

That’s why you should get started (or restarted) today!
